My career began with vacuuming cars for my Dad’s car wash.  He didn’t play favorites.  I started at the bottom.  After a short time I was managing the Quick Lube Center.  Shortly after, I was running the whole facility.  Then I branched out and built a multi-million dollar facility, Savannah Car Wash and Quick Lube.  

Then I sold it and followed my childhood dream of being a software developer.  I was 30 years old.  I had no college degree nor a professional reference on my resume.  But I pivoted into a successful career in IT.  Again, I started at the bottom.  But I ended up in top software development contracts.

I have the business and IT acumen to understand your marketing needs and budgeting parameters.  I will execute a plan for your reaching your goal of a successful web presence.

First Goal Achieved - A Successful Business

I pleaded with Dad to let me come home from UGA to run his business, Mike Houston's Car Wash and Quick Lube. Dad's reputation got people in the door of the business. But giving me full reign, my providing quality service in a timely fashion meant repeat business. After a decade of my successfully operating that business, Dad sold it and I moved to the coast to build Savannah Car Wash and Quick Lube. After two years in business I had health issues that didn’t allow me to continue its operation. It was also sold at a nice profit and I decided that with my love and experience in technology, I'd follow my childhood dream. I'd enter the world of IT.

Second Goal Achieved - Pivoting to the World of IT

In IT I started at the bottom as a Technical Support Representative. But the company that hired me, DRB Systems, was the leader in the wash and lube software industry, which was a huge plus for my career. I had moved from Savannah to Ohio to work for DRB Systems. After 2 years of bone chilling, snowy winters, I moved back to the warm climate of Middle Ga. and worked in Technical Support for the Macon IT company, ComputerLogic. While working there, I accomplished obtaining a Bachelors of Science in Information Technology. At ComputerLogic I saw an opportunity to streamline the Technical Support process.

Third Goal Achieved - 1st Commercial Software Package Distribution

During my spare time I wrote a software package. It was distributed to hundreds of ComputerLogic's customers and implemented by the support staff. I had increased the company's efficiency as well as customer satisfaction. Those two things combined resulted in more money to the bottom line. That was a great accomplishment to add to my resume. So I had worked in technology for a couple of years, got my B.S. in IT, and had proven myself as a successful software developer.

Fourth Goal Achieved - Landing a Professional Software Development Position

I left Technical Support and landed a web development position with STAR Software, a software company contracted with RAFB. On my breaks, I would quiz the database developer and began helping him out.

Fifth Goal Achieved - Successful Leveraging of Contract Positions

I left STAR two years later and worked as a contractor in for corporations such as AT&T, Caremark Drugs and Whole Foods. My role in these companies was as a specialist in the Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack.

My Latest Goal - Serving Middle Ga. Small Businesses

I recently returned to Middle Ga. I am again a small business owner. My offering is an affordable Web Presence Package that includes premium web site development and laser sharp local SEO.
